Timber Log Furniture
I build your log furniture the old fashion way, by hand. Sure this way is alot more difficult and slower but the finish product shows the differences' in strength and quality. The extra effort I put into each piece of handmade log furniture I build for you destines it to be a family heirloom for generations.
The Building Process
Each log is individually selected for its density, strength, and characteristics like bends, twists and burls - then cut and carried out of the bush by hand. I only use solid Ontario air dried pine, log furniture made with this wood has proven to be durable and beautiful.
Logs are draw knife peeled, tenon & mortise joints are bonded with generous amount of carpenters glue and heavy duty log lag screws are counter sunk in ¼" holes that are pre drilled to stop end splinting, finally each piece is completely hand sanded with 60 grit then 100 grit sand paper plus your choice of finish. Solid 2" x 4" spruce spreaders are used for the mattress frame. You won't find any particle board in our line of handcrafted log furniture.
The natural aging process of log furniture causes inherent checking. Checking (cracking) results when logs release moisture while seasoning. Checking adds to the rustic nature, character, and aesthetics of pine. It does not effect the integrity of the structural performance.
